Matchy Matchy ! (5) ~ Clambake, origami style

Oups I did it again je me suis encore absentée.

Matchy Matchy ! (5) ~ Clambake, origami style

Oups I did it again I went away for a long time again. Reason is still the same but this situation should get better once the GoT exhibit is behind me !

I am coming back with a new installment in the Matchy Matchy series ! I brought back from my trip to Japan a few origami paper sheets with more or less traditional patterns (I must say I have a doubt concerning the golden bunnies), at least in their colors. I found them again a few weeks ago I I just HAD to do something out of them !

I used one of my fav reds ever (mostly cuz I don’t own many others currently but still, love it), the jelly red from Essie Clambake. As always with this red, I couldn’t take a proper picture, sorry in advance for the quality of the coming photographs ! I free handed the pattern with my usual brush from Née Jolie . Topped everything with a bit of Matte About You, though you can’t really tell (god knows why, my thumb was perfect !)

Nailstorming #34 ~ Spring !

Nailstorming #34 ~ Spring!

Can you feel all that happiness and colorfulness in the air? It’s Spring, finally! So, obviously, here in France we were way more ready to believe it two weeks ago that this week end but the calendar doesn’t lie and says Winter Spring is coming!

when I first read this week’s theme, I already knew what I was gonna do (which is more than rare!): it was the perfect occasion to try out my Nee Jolie water decals! And since my first attempt at negative space seemed to be well received, I decided to try again! As a result: 2 thin coats of Essie’s jelly blood red Clambake, which screens Spring as no other polish does, a white base for my water decal accent. Naughty Nautical ended up being the lucky third color on my middle finger.

i ended up requiring a lot of time to understand how to use my WD since I’m not that great (as it already has a white base, you have to gently peel off its paper BEFORE applying it to the nail in order to apply it on the right face) but jeez, it’s amazing! I’m in love! All right, I might have slightly cheated and painted my tulips over with a thin coat of Clambake to make it the exact same red… But it’s nice right? 😀

See you soon for new polished adventures!

Little tests between friends ~ N°3: the nautical mix & match case

Yahou!

No, my student life and work load didn’t especially lighten, yes I am procrastinating. I procrastinate therefore I  am.  Therefore I blog. Obviously.

I had a lovely idea at first, inspired by a pretty nautical print found on Pinterest. Theoritically it should have been fine, a nude base – Samoan Sands from OPI – a bit of blue, here I used Kiko’s ink blue polish, n°335 and a tiny red line with Essie Clambake. But as often with me there was a but: I just can’t do it, I’m just no good at drawing boat anchors, to say it was awful would be an euphemism…

So I end up with two naked nails, an accent nail which I really like and a huge lack of inspiration. I finally reached for my dotting tool for my index and pinky fingers. As for the last one, that was a though one, seriously, I really wondered what was I gonna do?? I just decided to get my sh*t together and painted it with East Australian Current, a very pretty glitter blue polish from Love Thy Polish – 4 to 5 coats required to get this shade of blue though!

As it was neither a skittle manicure (would require all my nails to be different) nor ChiChat Nails skittlete (well, not so far off), I decided this was to be my first mix & match manicure, in a quite nautical theme!

Whata bout you, do you happen to change ideas in the middle of it and go crazy with the rest? 🙂

See you soon for new polished adventures!

A bientôt pour de nouvelles aventures vernièsques!

Little tests between friends ~ N°2: The watermarble case

I’m even not gonna try to justify why, just after being committed to be back; I so blatantly left the blog… But if I tried to sum up in a few worlds, I would probably say: November Nervous Breakdown. That would be an exaggeration duh (I still have some remnants of my sanity) but I’m basically running a marathon up until the end of my semester with my classes. As a result, I sleep few hours, I break my nails, don’t even feel like painting my nails… Ah and my Essie base made bubble, that little traitor.

Anyway, between two projects I decided to finally take some me time and help my nails looking more decent, as it was really time to, and to share at the same time my new love for watermarble (having doubts about my sanity now?). A small cup of room temp water, a few well dripping polishes, a toothpick and tape (supeeeer important), it sounds easy. Well, it’s not, and I failed so miserably so many times I realized that. Until the day it worked. And the next. Mainly thanks to my choice of polishes I guess, and the fact that I was doing the patterns wrong. This time I went back to my first love Essie! I used the bright red Snap Happy, the glittery gold Beyond Cozy and le Blanc.

A mani which ended up being quite easy, but since I felt like some good old red on my nails, it was perfect (good for my mental, don’t ask ahaha) and this couple from an earlier winter collection was just what I was looking for. Enough to make me happy quite fast (because in the end, it’s quick to do, I swear!).

And you, did you master the watermarble yet? Don’t hesitate to ask question, I might not be a pro (which is why I spare you any kind of failed step by step description) but who knows 🙂

See you soon for new polished adventures!
